Our September programme, Christ the Light, contains choral music centred around settings of the compline hymn, Christe qui lux es et dies, by William Byrd and Robert White, both of whom died 450 years ago. We conclude with White’s setting of the Lamentations of Jeremiah, a sorrowful yet resounding renaissance masterpiece.
