Hugo Williamson

Tenor and General Manager for LCC.

British tenor Hugo Williamson combines a love of solo and ensemble performance with a busy life as a Lay Clerk at King’s College, Cambridge. A first-class music graduate of Robinson College, he sang as a choral scholar at Gonville and Caius and trained for two years under Joseph Middleton through the Sir Arthur Bliss Lieder Scheme. A Genesis Sixteen alumnus and winner of both the Clare College Song Competition and the Donald Wort Prize for the highest final recital mark, Hugo recently performed solos on both Carols from Kings and the famous 9 Lessons and Carols broadcast on Christmas Eve.

Hugo’s recent recital highlights include a London debut at St Martin-in-the-fields performing a selection of English 20th century repertoire, and will make his Wigmore Hall debut in April 2026, performing Tippett and Stephen Hough. Cambridge highlights include Vaughan Williams’ On Wenlock Edge, Finzi’s A Young Man’s Exhortation, and Schumann’s Liederkreis, all performed with his regular recital partner Daniel Blaze.

Concert highlights include Bach’s St John Passion with Nicholas Mulroy and members of the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solennelle as the tenor soloist with Peterborough Choral Society and the tenor soloist for Gounod’s St Cecilia’s Mass with Slough Philharmonic. Equally at home on the operatic stage, Hugo has performed roles including Orpheus (Orpheus in the Underworld, Offenbach), Prologue/Peter Quint (The Turn of the Screw, Britten), and The Madwoman (Curlew River, Britten). He is currently a VOCES8 Scholar, manages Lady Clare’s Consort, and performs regularly with both Lady Clare’s Consort and Hemiola, touring widely across the UK.

In September, Hugo will begin his master’s at the Royal College of Music as a Scholar.
